Scholars Day Programs
Abstract
Scholars Day at SUNY Brockport was instituted in 1984 through
the efforts of the Faculty Senate. Scholars Day has continued as a
celebration of scholarly pursuits by the campus community.
The purposes of Scholars Day are many:
1. To publicize research, including methodologies and conclusions;
2. To share new ideas and concepts;
3. To expand one's knowledge base beyond the traditional classroom;
4. To mingle and socialize with campus citizens outside one's own
department and school.
This year, there are 135 presentations made by 180 faculty, staff
and students taking place on campus. There will also be eleven
exhibits in the corridors of Edwards Hall. In addition to attendance
by campus faculty, staff, students and our elected representatives;
teachers and students from area high schools have also
been invited to attend as guests of the College as they too participate
in the intellectual and community spirit of the day.
