Abstract
The proposed Entrepreneurship and Innovation minor, hosted by the School of Business and Management, will provide students across the campus with useful knowledge and tools for starting a new business. Students will learn to recognize new business opportunities, via some of the most advanced techniques such as design thinking; to develop those opportunities; to identify funding sources; and to develop skills to manage and sustain entrepreneurial ventures in any type of organization including not-for-profit ventures.Currently, SUNY Brockport offers no undergraduate program that provides the opportunity to learn the tools required to become a successful entrepreneur. Considering the entrepreneurial nature of Western New York, especially the Rochester area, this new program has high potential to increase our course enrollment and enhance the value of a Brockport degree. An entrepreneurship minor can be attractive to non-Business majors, including computing science, music, healthcare, education, etc. In addition, this new minor requires no new resources to enact.
