Abstract
This project proposes an innovative approach to preparing students for online study. Many students have experience using the Internet and online tools but aren’t able to translate these skills into online learning, resulting in frustration and loss of motivation to persist. We propose the development of gamified learning modules that will facilitate student exploration of online learning tools, such as learning management systems, library resources, and other online resources. We suggest that using a gamified approach will decrease anxiety and encourage students to explore and practice different tools and resources in a safe environment. This project will focus on teaching transferrable skills, for example, a student who uses Moodle will be able to use those skills in Blackboard or Canvas.
