from the introduction, "This report describes the first application of a geographic information system (GIS) to aid in the selection of ocean disposal sites for dredged sediment, specifically alternate and the placcment disposal sites for the Port of New York and New Jersey. Accordingly, four topics will be discussed. These are: (a) the design of the GIS, (b) the site-selection criterion used in the GIS, (c) the available data, and (d) the results. . ."
