Abstract
The purpose of this study is to identify leisure values that are seen as motivation for intergenerational learning within an assisted and independent living setting for older adults. Specifically, this project will seek to determine whether there is a correlation between two age groups of older adults pertaining to 1) their interest level in intergenerational learning and 2) their preference of categories within intergenerational learning programs offered. The information gleaned from this study will contribute to the general understanding of “seniors” and “boomers” motivation for, and interests in, intergenerational learning. This will help close a gap in needed information that can properly inform program development. In an age where fiscal astuteness and program success are both deemed highly important; more targeted, meaningful and effective outreach and programming within senior communities benefits both the seniors involved, as well as the program developers.
