Abstract
Patricia tells of her experience growing up in a Jewish family in Florence, Italy, and their process of escaping to the south with the aid of false identification papers after the German occupation. While on the move and in hiding, her faily was helped by Italian citizens who were against the Fascist regime and were also aiding Allied troops. She also recalls the few experiences with German soldiers entering her family's home, and the news of liberation and the war's end.
Tulio reacalls his childhood as part of a Jewish family in Livorno, Italy, under Fascist rule and eventually German occupation. After fleeing to Florence, Tulio and his siblings lived in a convent to keep safe, his father was taken to Germany and never reutrned and his mother worked nearby in order to visit her children and provide food. After liberation by the Allied forces, Tulio's family operated a winemaking supply store.
