Abstract

Tate Shaw is an Associate professor at SUNY Brockport, where he serves as Tower Fine Arts Gallery Director and Collections Manager. Before that, he ran SUNY Brockport's Visual Studies Workshop, from which he previously earned his MFA. Tate is a practitioner and scholar of artists' books. His own books are housed in the Tate Modern in London, Yale Special Collections, and Joan Flasch Artists' Books Collections at the school of Art Institute of Chicago, among other prestigious collections. His scholarly and critical writing about books has appeared in a range of journals, including Afterimage and Aperture, with several of his most important essays collected in Blurred Library. (Cuneiform Press, 2017).
