Abstract
The history of the Albion Free Methodist Church dates back to the tenure of Rev. Benjamin Titus Roberts, who arrived at Albion in 1855. The United Methodist congregation was the second-largest in the Genesee Conference with a membership of 285. In 1857, Roberts wrote "New School Methodism," a two-part article that appeared in the Northern Independent; the publication would ultimately result in his expulsion from the Genesee Conference.
