Abstract
New forms have been adopted for implementation of our newly revised General Education Program. Because SUNY Brockport's General Education Program now requires all Humanities courses to meet the Critical Thinking and REasoning Core Competency, the atached form is proposed for use for course approval requests. Statement of Rationale from the GECP Committee:
"In light of the new general education program at SUNY Brockport and in an effort to ensure shared meaning of the SUNY General Education SLO's and how they will be reviewed for application and recertification by College Senate's General Education Curriculum and Policies Committee, the College Senate forms for for application of a general education code have been revised. The specificity of the form will help to facilitate a shared understanding and increase the transparency in how proposals are evaluated for these codes. When needed, additional clarity on the SLOs and what instruction is needed to ensure the SLOs are sufficiently addressed has been included on the form with the hope thatthe process for application and review will be streamlined allowing for faster approvals as appropriate while ensuring a robust general education for students.
