Abstract

Historically, the Professional Education Unit (PEU) of the College at Brockport, SUNY was accredited by National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). Recently, NCATE merged with another accreditation body (Teacher Education Accreditation Council [TEAC] to form Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). The merge resulted in the development of new accreditation standards. The PEU has been working toward realigning their programs, assessments and evaluations to meet the new CAEP Standards. The researchers identified existing assessment tools to determine the extent to which students demonstrated student learning outcomes (SLO) for one of the five CAEP Standards. Specifically, the researchers examined existing data, provided by the PEU, to determine the degree to which students demonstrated proficiency on Content and Pedagogical Knowledge, related to Standard 1.
