Abstract

The Rochester community has a broad alliance of professionals and community members from academia, the city school district, social work, health, education, resettlement agencies, the law, etc. concerned about facilitating refugee resettlement. Within Nazareth College, the School of Health and Human Services and the Greater Rochester Collaborative Social Work program of Nazareth and SUNY Brockport, there is an interprofessional collaboration and support for refugee assistance. This presentation will describe the context of support for refugee programs, in particular the After School Program of Mary’s Place Refugee Outreach Center. This innovative, collaborative, and interprofessional program is coordinated by faculty and graduate and undergraduate students in Communication Sciences and Disorders, in union with Art Therapy at Nazareth College and Social Work faculty and students from the Greater Rochester Collaborative Masters of Social Work Program.
