Abstract
Applied learning refers to an educational approach where students apply knowledge and skills gained from traditional classroom learning to hands-on or real-world settings and can include experiential education activities. Historically, students at the University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences have maintained an individual document of general reflections on each experiential education activity (e-portfolio), which is a useful document when assessing an individual student. However, this process has limitations, as it is difficult to assess the experiences as an aggregate and evaluate the program as a whole. Therefore, we are developing a measurement tool to improve both the individual student data collected and the ability to assess activities at the aggregate level. The goal of the proposed project is to examine the validity and reliability of the measure, which has potential for use by other programs.

Tools such as this can be adapted to other health professions training programs by adapting the tool to collect and present
feedback on program- or profession-specific objectives.
