Abstract
This article by college archivist Mary Jo Gigliotti tells the history of what today is the Drake Memorial Library on the campus of SUNY Brockport. Its origins are with the Brockport Collegiate Institute in 1941, through becoming the Brockport State Normal School, to the library housed in the new Hartwell Hall for the State Teacher's College in 1939, the naming of the library to honor Bernard Drake, past Dean of the Campus School, and Ruth Drake, former Campus School librarian (they are unrelated), the move to Rakov building in 1961, the move to the present Drake Memorial Library building in 1974, and the computerization of the catalog.
