Abstract

This resolution affirms SUNY-FCCC’s more than fifty-year record of excellence in shared governance and emphasizes that shared governance—grounded in New York State law and regulation—is essential to the academic mission, institutional integrity, and public stewardship of SUNY’s community colleges. It underscores that effective shared governance depends on the free, unimpeded participation of elected faculty representatives in systemwide service so faculty expertise can meaningfully inform policy affecting teaching, learning, and student success across campuses. The resolution reaffirms FCCC’s commitment to protect governance participants from intimidation or interference, advance best practices and mentoring, and calls on SUNY System Administration—working with FCCC—to establish clear procedures ensuring faculty can serve as FCCC officers or leaders without obstruction.
