Abstract

from the executive summary, "On 16-17 June 1993 a group of nearly 200 environmentalists, business people, concerned homeowners, coastal scientists and engineers used scenario planning to explore a range of plausible futures for Long Island's coastline and near-coastal environments. The goals were to reach consensus on qualities that Long Islanders want for their coast in 2020 and to identify strategies that have the greatest chance of producing a coast with those qualities across a range of natural conditions. . ."
