Abstract

Presently, the Department of Public Health and Health Education offers two academic majors: (a) Public Health Education and (b) Health Science (concentration in Consumer Health). This proposal calls for a substantial change to the healt science (Consumer Health)program. Specifically, the major will now be names "Health and Society." No concentrations will be offered. A course in Consumer Health will be removed from the curriculum. A course entitled "Zip Codes, Community and Health" will be added. The Health and Society program continues to be a thirty (30) credit program, consistent with the current Health Science (Consumer Health) offering. The Health and Society Program will also be registered such that it can be completed in 100% distance/online format.
