Description
A redesigned college seal was adopted in 1981 after the State University adopted a new motto, "To Learn - To Search - To Serve," to replace the sexism of the old motto, "Let Each Become All He Is Capable of Being." Many on campus objected, not so much to the new motto, although it was not particularly favored, but by the unilateral manner in which the change was carried through.
