Abstract
A resolution calling for more support to campuses (training, personnel, resources) to comply with Title II regulations regarding digital accessibility.
Description
Chancellor King's Response:
Thank you for the UFS’s continued commitment to digital accessibility. As you know, ensuring digital accessibility is not only the law but is also the right thing to do – especially for a System like SUNY where access is part of our DNA. We recognize that the Title II changes call for a paradigm shift from accommodations to design for inclusivity up-front, and that getting there takes a great detail of work.
In response, we have established a team that includes the Provost’s Office, Office of Student Success, and Office of General Counsel that has been working over the past two years to support campuses in the work to comply with the Title II requirements.
This includes significant tools and resources as well as additional personnel to support campuses. To address training, the Center for Professional Development is
continuing to offer training and professional Development for faculty and staff. You can find the full suite of professional development programs on the EIT Accessibility Resource page on the CPD website.
I want to especially recognize the work of SUNY’s Accessibility Advocates and Allies Faculty Fellows and I look forward to opening nominations for the third cohort later this year.
