for Persons with Alzheimer’s Disease
As a person ages into their later years, the risk of Alzheimer’s Disease increases. This is a progressive, degenerative disease which as it advances, requires more hands-on care. Caregiving responsibilities vary regarding the stage of the disease and the relationship of the caregiver. It is essential to find supports to keep these caregivers physically and mentally healthy as their efforts create an enormous savings for society due to the unpaid care they provide. The estimated cost of family caregivers neglecting their own health is over $9 billion each year.The purpose of this thesis is to identify and describe effective interventions to improve the well-being of family caregivers for persons with Alzheimer’s Disease.
