Abstract

This is an introduction to the recently developed SUNY Open Access Repository or SOAR. It was established to showcase scholarly and creative works of faculty and students across SUNY campuses. This was in response to the SUNY Board of Trustees March 2018 Open Access Resolution that State Operated campuses develop Open Access policies which included a provision that every SUNY faculty member and student have access to an open access scholarly repository. It includes links to the SOAR content guidelines, approved campus Open Access policies, and other SUNY campus repositories. The slides also present functionality such as embedded videos that can be activated from the item record, export options for search results, ability to include ORCID persistent digital identifiers for authors, alt metrics and Scopus data when available and statistics on communities, collections, and item use. There are also links to additional documentation and how to get started guides.

Description

While the SUNY Open Access Repository had a soft role out in mid-August 2020, it was officially announced during Open Access Week, October 2020. The SOAR address is https://soar.suny.edu/. Further information is available at https://slcny.libguides.com/olis/openaccess.
