Abstract
Examine our current readmit policy which requires academically dismissed students who either don't appeal or their appeal is denied to "sit out" two full semesters before applying to return. We propose a pilot for the 22-23 academic year which would allow dismissed students to appeal to resorb after one semester. If successful, we could follow procedure to change the policy. The criteria for appeal would be successful completion of ≥ 12 credits at a community or 4 year college with a ≥ 2.5 GPA (with submission of official transcripts) and a statement indicating why they would be successful if they return to Brockport. There are likely retention benefits to having students return after one semester. In addition, we have no data indicating two semesters out is more beneficial than one.
