Abstract
This interview highlights the life and background of a first generation Italian American woman who is both a wife and a mother. The main purpose of this interview was to see the history of an Italian American life and the traditions of culture one follows. The parents of the Italian American woman traveled to the United States from Sicily which directly influenced the culture that the woman follows. It was found that the woman tends to follow two cultures, American culture and Italian culture. This is partially due to the home life that mainly follows Italian culture and the outside life of American society that mainly follows American culture. Prior to this interview it was known that food is a main way of identifying one's culture. The fact that food plays an important role in Italian culture was clearly seen and addressed in this interview. Although this is likely to be a common trait shared amongst all cultures, it was also found that family is the most important aspect in Italian American culture. Family is above all and the root to happiness as well as a good life. Overall, it can be said that Italian Americans as a whole, value family, traditions, and food.
