Abstract
Patricia tells of her experience growing up in a Jewish family in Florence, Italy, and their process of escaping to the south with the aid of false identification papers after the German occupation. While on the move and in hiding, her faily was helped by Italian citizens who were against the Fascist regime and were also aiding Allied troops. She also recalls the few experiences with German soldiers entering her family's home, and the news of liberation and the war's end. Tulio reacalls his childhood as part of a Jewish family in Livorno, Italy, under Fascist rule and eventually German occupation. After fleeing to Florence, Tulio and his siblings lived in a convent to keep safe, his father was taken to Germany and never reutrned and his mother worked nearby in order to visit her children and provide food. After liberation by the Allied forces, Tulio's family operated a winemaking supply store.Description
This collection was donated by Norman Carlson of the Wallenberg Committee and George Browder of the Goldbloom Memorial Fund Committee. This collection comprises recorded oral histories from two living history day events focused on interviewing Holocaust survivors. This collection comprises oral history recordings on broadcast video cassette, VHS cassette, and audio cassette. All of which has been digitized as MP4 files. This collection is arranged into two major series, Series A. Interview Recordings and Series B. Interview Transcripts. Both of these series are in separate arrangements, the first level being the committee that created the recordings and the sub series level by last name of interviewee in alphabetical order.Collections
