Abstract
This is the old campus building complex as it appeared in the 1890s, not long before the last major addition was made. The building was a composite of a central portion dating back to the original building of 1835, rebuilt in the 1850s, with wings added in 1867. The last addition was in 1900, a wing on the Monroe Ave. side of the school that housed the campus school and had a new auditorium. Beginning in 1938 the building you see here was torn down in sections, and what we know as Hartwell Hall put up in its place.
