    Abstract
Regarded for his portraits of James Madison, James Monroe, and John Quincy Adams, Chester Harding was a respected painter during the early 1800s. Records show that he purchased a parcel of land in Barre, New York from the Holland Land Company where his parents, Abiel and Olive Harding, lived out the remainder of their lives.
