Description
The 1982 memoir of Lea Cowles Masters, her professional name, who graduated from Brockport Normal in 1917 as Lena Agnes Boyle. Her career started conventionally enough as an elementary school teacher, but in the 1930s she became involved in New Deal efforts to expand nursery schools and education for preschoolers in places as far apart as the Virgin Islands and Alabama. After WWII she established the preschool for children of the staff of the newly organized United Nations.
