International Summer Special Olympics - commendation

Abstract

Whereas, the 1979 International Summer Special Olympics brought significant local, national, and international attention to SUC Brockport, and Whereas, the Special Olympics created in the area and greater college community a renewed sense of appreciation for the mentally handicapped, and Whereas, the organization, implementation and completion of the event was achieved with excellence, Be it resolved, the the Faculty Senate, SUC Brockport, commend and applaud the many committee chairpersons and members, the thousands of volunteers, and especially Peter Smiths, International Games Director, who contributed their time, effort, and love, to make the Special Olympics special indeed.
