Due to an amendment in the Education Law- Section 207, persons obtaining provisional certification after January 1, 1978 are required to complete graduate study which leads to a masters degree and which is "functionally relevant" to the area in which they seek permanent certification. In addition, two years of appropriate professional experience is required. This proposed revision for the masters degree in general elementary education is designed to offer a program of studies to student which meets the requirements of a degree program of the state, and the needs and expectations of candidates for permanent certification.Description
