Abstract
Students from the Contemporary Media Issues course will present three films regarding the events transpiring in Ferguson, Missouri following the shooting and killing of teenager Michael Brown. The films are intended to reflect similar coverage to what viewers would see from progressive, conservative and independent media sources. The purpose of this presentation is to demonstrate the way the media can influence the opinion of their audience based upon how a story is told. The films will highlight the differences in coverage provided by several large media companies including Fox News, CNN, MSNBC, etc. The students will talk about the processes involved in creating each of the films. A Q&A discussion will be held after the presentation.
