Abstract
The spark for this work in haiku stemmed from a news story regarding a bombing in the Middle East. I started to write from the perspective of one who would be caught in the fallout, and thought about how multiple countries contend with this sort of event currently and in past history (i.e. Ireland, Britain, the U.S.). Having lived in New York City for a few years, I took some of the conversation that I had with those who lived through 9/11 and weaved it into the piece.
