Any assessment project needs to start with clear goals: what are you trying to assess, what will you do with the assessment information once you have collected it, and how can that information help improve services. In this workshop, participants will be given an opportunity to develop a focused assessment question. Does your library seek to improve internal processes? Do you need data to demonstrate the value of your project to others? Once an assessment question is formed, participants will discuss the variety of assessment strategies and their usefulness. Will an author survey be useful? How can we best use usage statistics? Participants will leave with the workshop with the beginning of a plan for assessing their publishing initiatives.
