Abstract
This poster explores student satisfaction with the division of Student Services at a local community college. The study of student satisfaction has become an important aspect for institutions of higher education as they face issues such as declining enrollment and increasing costs. The current literature focuses on student experience in a traditional four-year college setting. However, little dedication has been given to student satisfaction at community colleges. The results of a survey given by the college’s research department are analyzed and used to inform a focus group where students discussed their experiences. The study focused on two questions: (1) How satisfied are students with services offered by their local community college? (2) Is the college “fulfilling the promise” by meeting their current mission statement? The participants in the focus group were ten undergraduate students who had more than one encounter with the division of Student Services during the Fall 2013 semester.
