    Abstract
This session will address the various systems that have contributed to our local homeless population, raise awareness regarding the homeless community in Rochester through the lens of the homeless, as well as summarize the Housing First model. Ms. Lorrie Johnson will explore the making and effect of a sanctuary village in the Rochester area. She will further discuss and model means of restoring power to the homeless residents of Rochester, and conclude with insight into various organizations in Rochester that are presently working toward engaging the community in ending poverty and homelessness.
    Description
Ms. Lorrie Johnson plans to pursue a master’s program after earning a bachelor of science in psychology and social work. She is an active volunteer with the House of Mercy and the Library Resource Outreach Center, which is located throughout the Rochester library networks. The goals of LROC are to assist in restoring power to the homeless community in Rochester, by connecting them with housing, and local service organizations without constraints. She is a strong advocate of the Housing First model here in Rochester, as well as the Homeless Bill of Rights.
