dc.descriptionMr. Jeffrey L. Alston is the assistant director of employer relations in the Office of Career Services at The College at Brockport. In his current role, he focuses on evaluating, managing, and expanding the network of employers that recruit students for internships and full-time employment. Mr. Alston is responsible for delivering related presentations, organizing events, and executing campaigns targeted at employers. Jeffrey obtained a BA in business administration from Winston-Salem State University, an MBA from Morgan State University (Baltimore, MD), and is currently pursuing a doctorate in higher education/student affairs at the University of Rochester.
dc.description.abstractStudies show that in the next 30 to 40 years ethnic minorities will be the dominant culture in the United States. With this, ethnic minority student population at colleges and universities will increase. Research suggest that ethnic minority cultural sensitivity should be applied during the career counseling process and when engaging with the University Career Center. Themes presented here surround Ethnic Minority Culturally Sensitivity (EMCS), EMCS in Career Centers, and the EMCS in the Career Counseling process. Implications point to ways the Career Center can apply ethnic minority cultural sensitivity through the career center and career counseling process.
