dc.descriptionKaren Logsdon, PhD, is the Deputy Title IX Coordinator and assistant to the Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs at The College at Brockport. Dr. Logsdon earned her PhD in Higher Education from the University at Buffalo. She is a member of several boards, such as the Women’s Center Advisory Board and the Personal Safety Committee. She also is the adviser to a number of committees and clubs on campus and in the community. Ms. Nicole Posluszny ’16 is currently on track to complete a bachelor of science in women and gender studies and political science at The College at Brockport. Her commitment to the College and women’s issues is apparent through her widespread involvement on campus. Presently, she is a Select Respect Peer Educator through Prevention and Outreach Services, serves on the Women’s Center Advisory Board and Personal Safety Committee, and is co-chair of the Start a Revolution Committee.
dc.description.abstractAll educational institutions observe Title IX, but why? Throughout this interactive breakout session, Dr. Karen Logsdon and Title IX Intern Nicole Posluszny will reinforce the idea that Title IX supports all students and employees, debunking myths that surround the legislation and exposing students to the prominence of Title IX as it pertains to their college experiences. Students will be asked questions about the legislation to test their previous exposure to important concepts and notions. Throughout the session, audience members will gain a valuable understanding of the impact of Title IX on college campuses.
