    Abstract
    This design research explores the question “How can local parks offer neighboring communities an alternative sustainable power grid which collects energy from; wind and solar while still preserving recreational public space for present and future generations?”. It is a challenge that begs to be resolved in this crucial time of climate change. Current infrastructures may not be equipped to deal with the problems people will face in the future. Harnessing the power of prevailing elements that are free and available for the taking such as the wind produced by hurricanes or solar rays that are produced from our star every day and the water that is accumulated in flooding events from heavy rainfall are approaches which are explored in this research. Using ecosystems and current technologies as inspiration for the “smart Park” design may be the best way to adapt to the new changes that climate change may bring.
