    Abstract
What is a timeless symbol of the Adirondacks? The front page article of this issue of The Spruce Moose, explains more. Introducing a new staff member Steve Signell, who joined the AEC staff as a research support specialist in May, he is working with N.Y. Department of Environmental Conservation planners as part of the UMPGIS initiative. Also, now there is earthquake monitoring at the Adirondack Ecological Center, with a seismograph that records quakes in the Adirondacks and beyond. Finally, take a look at new technological advances that the AEC is making in their teaching as well as their research.
