Abstract
New at the AEC, a proposed 5.5 million dollar investment into the carriage house at the Adirondack Ecological Center plans on making this a space for the physical plant as well as house classrooms specifically designed for distance-learning. This will help ESF serve the North Country and help in our overall mission as a college. Also new innovations lead to unmanned aerial planes which are being used by researches to help in monitor the wildlife in large areas. These increasingly affordable and user-friendly aircraft could cut costs, save time, increase accuracy and open new avenues in aerial surveys, which play a major role in wildlife management and research. Finally, read about the origins of an ecologist, and take a closer look at one man’s experiences and how they drove his curiosity in ecology.
