Permanent URI for this community

The New York State College of Ceramics is a statutory unit of SUNY and one of three colleges at Alfred University, the second-oldest coeducational institution in the United States. It was originally established by an act of the New York State Legislature in 1900 for the purpose of advancing the art and science of ceramics; two internationally known programs have evolved from these beginnings, in materials science and engineering and in the full spectrum of visual fine arts. Today students in the College's School of Art and Design and the Kazuo Inamori School of Engineering explore a wide range of materials and processes at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.
