School rules mandated attendance at daily chapel exercises held in this room and an absence was a matter of considerable importance. Chapel opened with the singing of a familiar hymn, then the Principal or one of the male faculty members read from the bible and offered a prayer. Chapel concluded with announcements and students then marched out to their classes to a musical accompaniment.
