dc.description.abstract	The Bernstein legacy defies description, classification and categorization, not surprisingly unlike Bernstein himself. It is an evolving entity which continues to exert influence on the world despite the fact that Leonard Bernstein has been dead since 1990. It is a body of work worthy of study and careful consideration. The sheer volume of achievement in so many areas of endeavor hampered by the apparent lack of satisfaction Bernstein demonstrated with the masterpiece of his life must be noted and absorbed. Yet the ultimate paradox that he gave so much in his relentless striving for self fulfillment leaves us with a formidable force that is really, still striving.	en
